Quadrant Arcade lighting design by Cehao Yu transforms historical shopping environment into a visually stunning space, awarded for heritage illumination
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Quadrant Arcade, a jewel of The Crown Estate on Regent Street, has been revitalized through a lighting design that highlights essential historical architectural features with minimal interventions. The art installation, inspired by paraboloid, creates a mathematically generated quadrant in three dimensions using linear lights to achieve an overall curve, attracting visitors and creating a unique rhythm reflective of the West End.
The lighting design for Quadrant Arcade is a unique approach to revitalizing historical shopping environments. The intelligent control system and interaction between architectural ambient lighting and the theatrical feature pendant encourage the perception of a unique rhythm reflective of the West End, attracting visitors and creating a special mood during the day and night.
The various lighting elements are divided into groups that can be individually controlled, offering different light scenarios whose performance corresponds to the movement of feature pendants. The sustainability-led lighting design approach targets delivery of an âExcellentâ rating against the BREEAM UK Refurbishment and Fit Out 2014 methodology.
