FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Junichiro Kawazoe's River Sea villa design, located on Awaji Island in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan, has been awarded the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in 2022. The site, situated near the river's mouth, inspired the timeless and minimalist design, emphasizing the relationship between the interior and exterior spaces.
The one-story building, with a total area of 427.07 m2 on a 1356.76 m2 site, is divided into three main uses: the entrance building, guest building, and main building. The design's axis is oriented north to south, connecting the site to the river, while the surrounding buildings on the east and west influenced the layout. The fusion of vernacular and modern architecture is realized through a careful selection of materials and a unique spatial experience.
The project, realized between September 2019 and January 2021, involved extensive research on the site, clients, and similar establishments, resulting in a design that reflects the essence of the location. The fusion of vernacular and modern architecture is evident in the exterior, interior, and use of local materials, creating a one-of-a-kind architectural experience.
