Introducing Doplor Sleep, a groundbreaking bedtime monitoring application designed to address sleep disturbances in hospitals, developed by Yiling Liu and team.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Yiling Liu and the design team have developed Doplor Sleep, a revolutionary bedtime monitoring application aimed at addressing the critical issue of sleep disturbances in hospitals. The inspiration for this innovative solution stemmed from the realization that environmental factors, such as noise, can have fatal consequences for critically ill patients. To combat this, Doplor Sleep utilizes cutting-edge technology to monitor and classify environmental sounds, providing valuable insights into sleep quality and disturbances.
Doplor Sleep is equipped with a sophisticated algorithm that categorizes recorded sounds, including medical alarms, speech, incidental sounds, and snoring, offering a comprehensive overview of the acoustical environment. The application seamlessly integrates with Fitbit sleep trackers, allowing users to access daily sleep-sound quality reports. The user interface features engaging illustrations and interactive elements, enabling users to visualize their sleep status dynamically throughout the night.
Developed using the Android Studio IDE and leveraging the Fitbit API for sleep data retrieval, Doplor Sleep currently operates on Android devices. The project, which commenced in March 2020 and concluded in October 2020 in Delft, the Netherlands, was driven by extensive research on hospital-related sleep disturbances and collaboration with medical institutions and research labs.
The Doplor Sleep system not only serves as a valuable tool for patients to monitor their sleep quality but also provides crucial data for medical staff to understand the impact of sound disturbances on patient well-being. This innovative solution has been recognized with the prestigious Iron A' Design Award in Mobile Technologies, Applications, and Software Design, underscoring its practicality, innovation, and potential to positively impact the healthcare industry.
