Quirky Louise: A Unique Pop-Up Book Design

Yunzi Liu's Quirky Louise is a pop-up book that introduces the unique living habits of Louise, followed by infographics and statistics based on further analysis of each habit. The book stands up and forms four cubic zones representing different rooms in Louise's house, providing a visual environment on the left and statistics on the right.

For the book, a classic pop-up structure was adopted to represent rooms at home, with magnetic tape hidden in the covers to close the structure when opened. The closed book measures 20.3mm in width, 1.2mm in depth, and 20.3mm in height, while the opened book expands to 40.6cm in width, 40.6cm in depth, and 20.3mm in height.

Place the book perpendicular to the desktop and open it into a 360-degree structure so that the front and back covers will draw together by magnets and stand stable and upright on the desk. The project was completed in October 2019 in Baltimore.
