Award-winning designer Kai-Shin Lo creates a multilayered space interlaced with landscape, natural elements, and a huge amount of wood to soften the boundary between man-built and nature, enriching the lives of a family of six.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Kai-Shin Lo's "Bring Nature Home for Kids" is a 4-floor Chinese-garden-themed residential interior design, built in February 2016 in Taichung City, Taiwan. The project spans 228 square meters indoors and 111 square meters outdoors, featuring a living room, dining room, kitchen, master bedroom, two bedrooms, a working room, and two outdoor gardens, including a semi-outdoor roof garden.
The interior space is exhaustively real wood dependent, with a focus on zero waste, eco-friendliness, and consistency. The design encourages children to explore freely, feel the texture of the wilderness, and learn to appreciate the beauty of nature. The project was awarded Bronze in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2020.
Lo's design embodies the Chinese methods of borrowing, framing, and blocking, creating a picturesque haven in a limited space. The house is enriched with natural materials such as logs, shells, stones, and leaves, allowing children to connect with nature in their home environment.
