Hecang Training School by Yan Fang Shen

Yan Fang Shen's Hecang Training School, a film and television training school located in Changsha, China, has been awarded the Bronze A' Design Award for Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design in 2021. The school, with a building area of 670 square meters, draws inspiration from the concept of a granary, symbolizing the high expectations for student success. The space features a harmonious blend of gray and log tones, creating a warm and magnificent atmosphere that reflects the enterprise temperament.

The unique design features a staggered-floor spatial structure, with functional areas such as the gym room, photographic room, and studio located on the higher floors, while the classrooms are situated on the lower floor. The interior courtyard boasts wooden grain floor tiles that extend from the ground to the ceiling, fostering a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor spaces. The space also incorporates a tilted glass ceiling, allowing natural rain to create a water curtain effect, adding an element of fun to the lotus pond.

Yan Fang Shen's design successfully overcame challenges related to lighting and privacy, utilizing a combination of wall and glass to increase transparency and solve the lighting problem in the passage and reception area. The passageway connecting the multimedia classrooms features inductive linear lighting, adding a futuristic touch to the space.
