Fei Zhao's "Utopia" is a stunning residential house design that reimagines space with organic, inclusive elements, maximizing natural light and functionality. Completed in August 2021 in Zhengzhou, China, this project represents a fusion of architectural and interior design thinking, earning Fei Zhao a Silver A' Design Award in 2023.

Utopia - A Radiant Residential House Design by Fei Zhao
Fei Zhao's "Utopia" is a narrow north-south facing townhouse, spanning 420 ã¡ across 4 floors, with a unique inward-facing construction. The design maximizes natural light, featuring a laminated cast-in-place revolving staircase and a focus on organic, light and shadow, lighthearted, sculptural, and textural contrasts.
The project, which commenced on October 17th, 2020, and concluded on August 1st, 2021, was inspired by the impact of light on the residential environment, with a focus on sunlight's duration and direction during the winter and summer solstices.
Fei Zhao's team overcame challenges in landing the project and coordinating with the structure and electromechanical team, resulting in a space that offers an organic, inclusive ambiance and maximizes the utilization of underground space.
