Poznan Marathon Medal Design by Artmask group

Artmask group's Poznan Marathon Medal design has been awarded the Silver A' Design Award in 2020. The medal's animation and design were inspired by the 20-year history of the Poznan Marathon, with small elements symbolizing each year of the marathon. The lanyard is printed with historical photos from all marathon editions, arranged in chronological order.

The unique idea of presenting medals for the competitors of the 20th PKO Poznan Marathon was to encourage registration for the jubilee marathon, with a 42.195 km run to win this special medal. The project utilized advanced technologies including Houdini, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere, 3D Studio MAX, and Photoshop to create the 4K resolution animation.

The medal, cast in steel and silver, has dimensions of 80mm x 7mm x 80mm. The reverse of the medal is dedicated to Maciej Frankiewicz, the president of the City of Poznan, who is the creator and patron of the Poznan Marathon. The project started in August 2019 and was completed in September 2019 in Poznan, Poland.

Based on research, the presentation of the medal in the form of animations positively increased the number of runners, with over a 15% increase in marathon registrations. The most challenging part of the project was creating a unique animation scenario to present the medal design and the 20 years of the Poznan Marathon. Despite the challenges, the project was successfully completed within a short timeframe.
