Wei-Che Chien's A C Residence

Wei-Che Chien's A C Residence is a modern, wooden-tonal house located in Taipei City, Taiwan. The project, completed in April 2015, features an overall application of warm wooden materials with natural lightings, creating a unique and peaceful atmosphere. The space has applied wooden tonal as its central theme, with materials such as marbles, artificial stones, and various wooden veneers, creating a profound and exquisite spatial atmosphere. The 32-ping residence has a semi-open-end public area with a spatial arrangement of 3 rooms, delivering a simple and neat aesthetic. The design team, including Wei-Che Chien and Allen Wu, focused on creating a smooth and transparent traffic flow, allowing the client's children to have fun freely in the space. The project was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2022 for its outstanding and creatively ingenious design.

The A C Residence has been designed with a focus on usability, particularly for children. The expansive hallway in the public area, lower furniture arrangements, and the incorporation of a kid's room allow for a seamless and unbound living experience. The transformation between each area is peaceful, accessible, and low-key, with warm touches of wooden materials. The project also overcame creative and technical challenges, such as softening the sense of towering caused by an existing beam-column and creating a more expansive and transparent spatial feeling through the use of different materials and lightings. The overall design aims to create a refreshing and relaxing spatial feeling through selected materials, lighting advantages, and smooth traffic flow.

HJ+A design studio, where Wei-Che Chien is from, focuses on the interaction between people and space, constructing tailor-made space experiences. The studio's design philosophy aligns with the A C Residence's emphasis on creating a unique and peaceful atmosphere through the thoughtful application of materials and spatial arrangements.
