Yen-Ling Chen from Taipei City, Taiwan, Wins Silver A' Design Award for Archi-Lab
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Yen-Ling Chen's Archi-Lab, a laboratory of architecture, has been awarded the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in 2021 for Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design. The project reimagines the use of common exterior materials in Taipei, such as brick, concrete, tiles, and re-bars, to bring the exterior scale to the interior, creating a unique spatial experience.
The Archi-Lab project is a response to the influence of Western modernism on Taipei's architecture and the prevalence of old tile buildings in the city. By experimenting with the "outside in" concept, Yen-Ling Chen has created a space that blends new and old elements, including bookshelves made from re-bars, to explore the possibilities in spatial design.
Yen-Ling Chen's innovative approach to architectural design has been recognized for its outstanding expertise, innovation, and remarkable technical characteristics, earning the Silver A' Design Award in 2021.
