Shadow: A Revolutionary Lifesaving Blanket for Refugees

Inspired by the tragic story of a young refugee, designer Xudong Cai has created Shadow, a multifunctional lifesaving blanket aimed at improving the survival chances of refugees facing extreme conditions. This innovative product serves as a life blanket, life jacket, and simple sleeping bag, providing essential support during migration and emergencies.

Shadow is designed to address the challenges faced by refugees, offering buoyancy assistance, warmth, and shelter. The product's high-frequency heat-sealing technology ensures durability and waterproofing, making it an essential tool for marine rescue, disaster relief, and emergency situations.

Measuring 500*200*150 in its folded state and 2000*1500*5 in its expanded state, Shadow is a versatile and practical solution for refugees in need of immediate assistance.

Designer Xudong Cai, from DongGuan, China, embarked on the Shadow project in March 2019, completing it by July 2019. The design was exhibited at Dongguan University of Science and Technology in October 2019, showcasing its potential to make a significant impact on the lives of refugees worldwide.

Shadow's creation was driven by extensive research on the refugee crisis, aiming to raise public awareness and understanding of the challenges faced by refugees. By integrating industry best practices and innovative design, Shadow was honored with the Iron A' Design Award in 2020, recognizing its practicality and contribution to a better world.
