Urban Jungle: Bringing the Wild to the City

Cheng Nan Chin's Urban Jungle design transforms a 132 square meter second-floor space in Taoyuan into a unique beauty salon. Inspired by the owner's love for lion-shaped lamps, the design incorporates natural elements such as green plants, wooden floors, and tables to create a jungle flair in an urban setting. The use of a gabion wall with exposed steel bars and concrete adds a raw, natural vibe, offering customers a secluded retreat in the midst of a bustling area.

To bring the space to life, the design team utilized wood grain and plants to complement the bare concrete interior. The salon features a life-sized lion lamp and hanging greenery, creating a hideaway vibe while blending a sense of the wild with clean modern lines. The layout includes a T-shaped island seating area and tool storage cabinets, designed to optimize natural light and customer privacy, ensuring a smooth workflow for the hairdressers.

Utilizing Lotos plaster on the reception and bar counters, the design team reduced working hours while also addressing Taiwan's humid climate with water-resistant plaster to prevent efflorescence. The warm wood grain, combined with the rough gabion wall, bare steel bars, and soft curved sofa and seats, creates a balanced and visually appealing atmosphere.
