A Retro Cafe Designed to Bring European Culture to Chongqing City, China
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
YiXuan Wang, along with the design team, has created the Seine River Cafe, a retro cafe located in a European-inspired street in a natural village near Chongqing City, China. The design draws inspiration from classical French and British interior decorative art, incorporating Rome marble pillars to divide the space and create a sense of combination of the void and the solid. The cafe aims to offer visitors an immersive experience of European culture while seamlessly blending with its natural surroundings.
The 130.3 square meter cafe features a tree planted inside the interior space, connecting the indoor and outdoor environments to provide a natural view for consumers. The interior design utilizes white natural marble, natural leather, laminate floor, brass, and white latex paint to create a spacious and transparent atmosphere. The space is divided by Rome marble pillars, ensuring clear functionality while maintaining an open and airy feel.
The project, which began in December 2019 and was completed in November 2020, presented the design team with the challenge of harmonizing the natural landscape with a classical style. By incorporating European classical elements, large windows, and interior trees, the team successfully bridged the gap between the interior and exterior spaces, providing an aesthetic and cultural experience for visitors. Additionally, the cafe contributes to the local economy by providing employment opportunities.
YiXuan Wang, a student from Nanchang, China, and the design team have received international recognition for their work, including the Bronze A' Design Award in 2022 for their outstanding and creatively ingenious design of the Seine River Cafe. The cafe stands as a testament to their dedication to interior design research and their commitment to creating spaces that enrich the quality of life for visitors.
