Designing a Symbolic Tribute to Czechoslovak Legionnaires

Martin Zouhar, a Prague-based freelance graphic designer, has unveiled "Rum Heffron," a tribute to the Czechoslovak legionnaires who fought in Russia from 1914-1918. The design draws inspiration from the legionnaires' journey from Russia to Europe, encapsulating their heroic story in a bottle of rum.

The 500ml transparent glass bottle features a label made from textured creamy paper, adorned with a short legionnaires' story and printed by three Pantone colors. The label's design pays homage to the letters sent by legionnaires during their travels around the world.

This project, which commenced in July 2018 and concluded in August 2019, is a testament to Zouhar's dedication to preserving the historic context of his country and the soldiers' life destinies. The rum was launched on the Czech market to commemorate the centenary of the Czechoslovak legionnaires' return home after their long journey from Russia via Panama back to Europe.

Martin Zouhar's exceptional design has been recognized with a Silver A' Design Award in 2021, showcasing outstanding expertise and innovation in packaging design. The award-winning "Rum Heffron" stands as a symbol of the legionnaires' valor and their significant contribution to Czechoslovak history.
