Introducing Vadr, a modern coffee table designed by Jaimie Ota, inspired by Mid-Century Modern design, and created to be functional and visually appealing.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Jaimie Ota presents Vadr, a modern coffee table inspired by Mid-Century Modern design, meticulously crafted to be both functional and visually striking. The table's design was influenced by the profile of a piano, utilizing strong linear angles to create visual interest and a forward-thinking side profile. The line of bars across the front of the table, resembling piano keys, serves as a bookshelf or concealed storage space, adding a unique touch to the table's aesthetic. The legs are positioned to ensure stability, making Vadr a standout piece for any space.
Vadr is a simple and modern styled table that is appealing from every viewing angle. The most significant feature is the line of bars across the front of the table, which can be used as a bookshelf or a subtle, concealable storage space. The legs and tabletop make it unique and individualistic. The legs are specifically positioned to provide ensured stability.
The concept for Vadr was initially sketched and then transformed into a model to test proportions and stability. Using a CAD program, the measurements were adjusted to create a full-scale model. The coffee table is made of plywood and held together with wooden dowels and wood glue, then stained and treated. The table's dimensions are 1214mm x 610mm x 457mm.
Vadr is a functional table that adds character to its environment. It features unique angles and a purposeful structure, making it a statement piece that works well in small areas. The storage unit underneath the tabletop is open on both sides, providing easy access, while the line of bars offers light coverage for items stored underneath and can also hold coffee table books or magazines. The table was designed and completed in Los Angeles, CA.
Jaimie Ota, the designer of Vadr, is a student studying Industrial Design at the Academy of Art University. Her work has been recognized with the Iron A' Design Award in 2020, highlighting the practical and innovative nature of Vadr.
