Ying Cui Introduces Morcube, a Versatile and Sustainable Wooden Toy

Ying Cui, an interdisciplinary designer from Shanghai, has unveiled Morcube, a versatile wooden toy designed to inspire creativity and problem-solving skills. Unlike ordinary wooden stacking blocks, Morcube features a joinery structure inspired by traditional mortise and tenon in wood crafts, allowing for a wide range of shapes, structures, and functions. Made entirely of wood with a natural finish, Morcube is not only safe and friendly but also provides an intellectual challenge for puzzle lovers.

Morcube is a versatile toy that offers users the opportunity to explore their creativity with challenges on every level. Its special locking mechanism and precision-cut pieces make it a joy to play with, while the high quality of maple wood and craftsmanship ensure its durability for years to come. Each cube consists of 5 wooden parts fixed together with traditional mortise and tenon without using glue, showcasing the perfect blend of craftsmanship and engineering.

Measuring 75mm x 75mm x 75mm, Morcube is designed to provide an engaging and sustainable play experience. It is connected by dovetail mortise and tenon, allowing for smooth sliding movement and the creation of various design configurations. The project, which started in August 2021 in Shanghai, is currently seeking manufacturers and e-commerce platforms to bring Morcube to the market.

Ying Cui, known for her focus on creating compelling interactive experiences, aims to enhance the emotional connection between people and objects through her designs. Morcube has already been recognized with an Iron A' Design Award in the Toys, Games, and Hobby Products category in 2023, showcasing its well-designed, practical, and innovative nature that meets professional and industrial requirements.
