Newsdays Unveils Dongyi Dunhuang: A Contemporary Interpretation of Chinese Aesthetics

Newsdays, in collaboration with Qingdao Metro, proudly presents Dongyi Dunhuang, a boutique hotel that embodies the essence of oriental aesthetics. Situated in the historic city of Dunhuang, this architectural marvel seamlessly blends tradition with modern design, offering a secluded retreat for travelers seeking an authentic and immersive experience.

Dongyi Dunhuang draws inspiration from the rich cultural heritage of the region, embracing the unique temperament of the Chinese literati group. The hotel's design reflects the spirit of boldness amidst the vast northwestern desert, providing a serene sanctuary for guests to immerse themselves in the thousand-year history and natural landscape of Dunhuang.

Constructed using traditional northwestern building techniques, including the use of rammed earth, Dongyi Dunhuang harmoniously integrates with its surrounding environment, exuding a sense of calm and natural growth. Spanning across 41,541 square meters, with a building area of 10,299 square meters, the hotel offers a spacious and immersive setting for guests to explore.

Chen Xiangjing, the chief designer of Newsdays, expressed his vision for Dongyi Dunhuang, emphasizing the pursuit of "possibility" in capturing the essence of Dunhuang's history and culture. The project, which commenced in April 2018 and concluded in June 2021, represents a culmination of meticulous research and creative exploration, resulting in a design that transcends boundaries and offers a delicate retreat for visitors.
