Architect Yihao Tong unveils the Cetacean Exhibition Center, a whale-inspired architectural marvel, set to be implemented in Husavik, Iceland, integrating eco-friendly design with the natural landscape.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Architect Yihao Tong has revealed the breathtaking Cetacean Exhibition Center, a temporary project designed to be implemented in Husavik, Iceland. Inspired by the frequent exposure of whales' tails on the sea, the architecture aims to create a space that enhances the experience of climate change by integrating with the surrounding landscape.
The Cetacean Exhibition Center stands out with its eco-friendly design, utilizing recyclable materials and natural light. The bionic form of the whale tail and skeleton serves as the architectural language, emphasizing the importance of understanding and preserving marine life. The 50-meter long, 40-meter wide, and 7-meter high structure is a testament to innovative contemporary architecture, offering a unique atmosphere for visitors.
Constructed using wood mortise and tenon joints, concrete placement, and a glass curtain wall, the building's design allows for an immersive experience, creating an imaginary connection between the land and the underwater world. The exhibition center is set to become a cultural landmark, providing a new viewpoint for visitors and locals to observe whale migrations and the northern lights.
