Shwood: Elevating Wood Craftsmanship and Stress Reduction

Joakim Rydén introduces Shwood, a groundbreaking desk lamp concept designed to elevate wood craftsmanship and reduce stress levels for users. The lamp operates through touch, emitting a soothing sound as the light softly dims up or down, providing a calming sensation.

Shwood is a 25 cm tall desk lamp, crafted from beech wood, with an innovative operational element that requires users to touch the wooden surface, creating a unique and interactive experience. The lamp's design aims to bring the essence of nature and simplicity into the modern world, offering a tangible connection with natural materials.

The concept was brought to life using Sketchup and Vray for renders, with extensive research into wood types and everyday interactions. The project, initiated in December 2021 in Stockholm, was completed in August 2022, showcasing the dedication and meticulous craftsmanship behind Shwood.

Shwood was honored with the Iron A' Design Award in 2023, recognizing its practicality, innovation, and integration of industry best practices. Joakim Rydén's passion for lighting design and commitment to functional aesthetics is evident in this exceptional creation.
