Authentic German Bakery in Taipei City

Designer Matt Liao brings the romantic fairy tale and concise impressions of Germany to life with the Schwarzwald Recipe, a German bakery located in the heart of Taipei City. Inspired by the Black Forest, this bakery offers a unique blend of traditional German cuisine and modern design, creating an immersive experience for visitors.

The Schwarzwald Recipe is the brainchild of a Taiwanese lady who lived in the Black Forest area of Germany for many years. The bakery has gained recognition for offering some of the most authentic German food in Taipei, approved by gourmets and locals alike.

The bakery, realized using steel, solid wood moldings, wood veneer sheets, black mirrors, vinyl, and tiles, occupies a 120-square-meter space in a mixed-use building in Taipei City. The design team, led by Matt Liao, worked on this project from April 2017 to July 2017, infusing the space with the essence of traditional German houses, Black Forest, and Bauhaus designs.
