Architect Tatsuhiro Nishimoto's Vision Comes to Life in "House in Yamate"

Renowned architect Tatsuhiro Nishimoto has unveiled a groundbreaking residential design, "House in Yamate," located in Iwakuni, Japan. Inspired by the spiritual significance of sunrise rituals in Varanasi, India, the design captures the essence of light and openness, redefining modern living spaces.

The innovative floor plan of "House in Yamate" was meticulously crafted to welcome the sunrise throughout the year, creating a living space filled with natural light. The use of glass walls allows for an immersive experience, while an independent large roof protects the space from the elements, fostering an open environment where wind and consciousness seamlessly flow through.

Realizing this vision involved advanced construction techniques, including the use of H-shaped steel beams and wooden structures, ensuring the stability and independence of the residential portion. The design's technical specifications reflect a harmonious balance between the stable roof and the free-flowing living space.

Tatsuhiro Nishimoto, along with team member Toshiro Watanabe, dedicated three years to bring "House in Yamate" to life, with the project commencing in June 2018 and concluding in December 2021. The design has been recognized with the prestigious Golden A' Design Award in 2023, celebrating its remarkable impact on architecture and structural design.

With "House in Yamate," Tatsuhiro Nishimoto has reimagined residential architecture, aiming to enhance the daily lives of its residents by creating a space that embraces light, wind, and a profound connection to nature.
