Residential Space Transformed into Eastern Neoclassical Elegance

Jung Yuan Hou's design for the Eastern Neoclassical villa was inspired by the client's desire to recreate the fresh, bright, and spacious American decor they had experienced during their time in the United States. The design team meticulously planned the public and private sectors on the first and second floor, combining aesthetics and functionality to create a comfortable and elegant neoclassical space.

The villa's master bedroom features a double-sided cabinet and oriental sliding doors, separating the sleeping and study area. The design integrates functionality and aesthetics, with thoughtful details such as a dark purplish color on the bedside wall and a hidden cloakroom behind a camouflage door, showcasing the designer's meticulous planning.

The design team utilized a variety of materials, including stone, leather, iron, wood flooring, and mirror glass, to realize the neoclassical base integrated with oriental style elements. The living room features a chaise lounge and standing lamp, while the dining hall boasts a custom-made mirror wall and a metal chandelier, creating a beautiful harmony between Chinese and Western elements.

The 280.1 m2 villa includes an entrance, living room, dining room, wet and dry kitchen, guest bedroom, study room, a master bedroom, two bedrooms, three bathrooms, and three terraces. The guest dining hall furniture combines with the main wall to create a layered, spacious vision, while the two kitchen system effectively enhances the modern usage habit and blocks oil fumes.

After re-adjusting the entrance hall's proportion distribution and extending the dining hall ceiling height, the design team created a semi-enclosed space with increased storage and added privacy. The clever use of hanging lamps and open dry kitchen distinguishes different areas while offering a connecting feeling for people interacting in the space.

The Eastern Neoclassical design project was completed in Wenshan District, Taipei, Taiwan, and was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2020 for its well-designed, practical, and innovative approach that seamlessly integrates Chinese and Western elements in a residential space.
