Golden Hill Delicates: Redefining Traditional Chinese Dining

Golden Hill Delicates, a 12,000 square metre restaurant located in downtown Beijing, is a modern interpretation of ancient charm, inspired by classical Chinese paintings and poetry. Zheng Wang, the visionary designer, sought to create a secluded peach blossom garden, akin to the scene depicted in Tao Yuanming's prose masterpiece Peach Blossom Spring, offering a secret oasis amidst the bustling city.

Wang's design incorporates natural elements such as mountains, stones, and bamboos, providing a picturesque view at every turn, reminiscent of shifting scenery in a painting. The space features calligraphy, paintings, porcelain, ornaments, and brick carvings, seamlessly blending traditional cultural elements with modern decorative techniques.

Utilizing the design of the Master of the Nets Garden, Wang skillfully navigated the complex and varied characteristics of the space, transforming challenges into advantages. Stairs and viewing lawns connect the various spaces, creating a harmonious blend of reality and imagination.

The project commenced in May 2019 in Shenzhen and was completed in September 2020 in Beijing. Wang's design reflects the essence of the "Peach Blossom Spring," offering a modern interpretation of ancient charm and aesthetics, allowing diners to immerse themselves in the rich cultural heritage.

Golden Hill Delicates was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2022, recognizing its outstanding and creatively ingenious design that authentically captures the essence of tradition while incorporating modern elements, contributing to an enhanced quality of life.
