Bo Liu's JW Marriott Hotel

Bo Liu's latest project, the JW Marriott Hotel, is a new urban oasis in Shanghai's seaside district Fengxian, offering warm and welcoming luxury with enriching experiences for the body and mind in Hangzhou Bay. Inspired by the natural surroundings of Jinhai Lake, the hotel's style narrative is reflected in its exterior design, drawing inspiration from the legendary bird Roc. The hotel features 265 guestrooms and suites, incorporating natural materials such as wood and marble in undulating, curvilinear forms that reflect the waves of the nearby East Sea.

Featuring 1,800 sq m of meeting space, a 900 sq m grand banquet hall, and three distinctive restaurants, the JW Marriott Hotel offers a unique blend of oriental aesthetics and leisure hospitality. The hotel's design incorporates marble, timber, metal, stainless steel, glass, and wood carving, creating a serene and luxurious atmosphere for guests.

The project, which commenced in November 2018 and was completed in May 2020, was a result of meticulous planning and efficient design solutions. Bo Liu and the design team overcame challenges to balance the cost of design, maintenance, and operation while meeting the brand's expectations and standards. The hotel's design caters to sophisticated, mindful travelers seeking experiences that foster meaningful connections and feed the soul.
