Yulong Zhang's Suite Stool

Yulong Zhang, a product design undergraduate student at Tongji University, has created the Suite Stool, a multifunctional furniture piece designed to address the challenges of limited living space. The inspiration for the Suite Stool came from the increasing trend of compact living spaces in China, where individuals face constraints in accommodating large furniture.

The Suite Stool is a set of three stools that can be used separately or combined to form a single unit, providing flexibility for different seating arrangements. Each stool measures 500mm in width, 400mm in length, and 450mm in height, offering a compact yet comfortable seating solution.

Constructed from plywood, the stools provide robust support while enabling flat packaging for efficient storage and quick assembly. The innovative design allows users to easily separate the stools into individual seating units or combine any two stools to accommodate varying seating needs.

Yulong Zhang's Suite Stool project commenced in November 2018 in Shanghai and was completed in January 2019, with an exhibition at 'Design Shanghai' in March 2019. The design was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in 2020, recognizing its exceptional innovation and functionality.
