Drawin Design Studio unveils the innovative Yamaki Zushi restaurant, a fusion of vintage aesthetics and modern sustainability, completed in May 2021 in Taipei City, Taiwan.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Drawin Design Studio introduces the Yamaki Zushi restaurant, a unique blend of vintage aesthetics and modern sustainability. The exterior features weatherboard-inspired hardware, creating a vintage-like facade with a sense of roughness. The reuse of old materials and the incorporation of Japanese-inspired designs have transformed the space, providing a distinct Japanese atmosphere.
The interior is a testament to eco-friendly design, utilizing materials such as rusted iron, unpainted wood, cypress, and teak. The use of Baizou, a material recycled from volcano ashes, contributes to a sustainable and healthy dining environment by eliminating formaldehyde and reducing moisture and odors.
The spatial design is divided into two dining areas, offering a unique experience for patrons. The open-end counter area surrounds the cooking station, creating a peaceful atmosphere with wooden diagonal planes and screens. The private box seating area exudes a sense of tranquility with its low-key wooden materials and hardware screens.
The project, completed in May 2021, is a result of meticulous research and creative problem-solving. Drawin Design Studio overcame the challenge of combining client requirements with spatial arrangements to ensure a smooth traffic flow for employees and customers. The design successfully captures the spirit of Japanese cuisine, emphasizing perfection and extreme requirements through its use of pure and simple materials and particular layering design methods.
The Yamaki Zushi restaurant has been recognized with the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2022. This award acknowledges the outstanding expertise, innovation, and remarkable level of excellence demonstrated by the design, setting a new standard for Japanese dining experiences.
