Kawn Designs Unveils Ring, a Bookshelf Inspired by the Golden Ratio and Da Vinci's Vitruvian Man
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Kawn Designs is proud to introduce "Ring," a stunning bookshelf inspired by the divine proportion, also known as the Golden Ratio, and the iconic silhouette of Da Vinci's Vitruvian Man. This unique piece is a testament to the timeless influence of Da Vinci's work and serves as a functional and aesthetic addition to any space.
Reminiscent of Da Vinci's Vitruvian Man, Ring stands as a symbol of modern civilization and beauty across all disciplines. The bookshelf not only pays homage to this enduring legacy but also serves as a keeper of knowledge, making it a truly remarkable addition to any interior space.
The design process involved meticulous craftsmanship, with a metal sheet manually bent into a perfect ring forming the main circle of the bookshelf structure, fixed on a solid wooden base. The square background completing the Golden Ratio shape is achieved through brass rods, equally distributed and fixed to the wooden base. The result is a visually striking and functional piece that seamlessly integrates art and utility.
Ring measures 180 cm in diameter, with a depth of 35 cm and a height of 183 cm, making it a substantial yet elegant addition to any room. This statement piece interacts with both the space and the user, offering a unique opportunity to engage with the Vitruvian Man's divine proportion in a tangible and functional way.
The project began as a basic sketch in April 2019 in Amman, Jordan, and the manufacturing process took approximately three months. Ring was officially launched and presented in November 2019 during Downtown Design Week in Dubai, marking a significant milestone for Kawn Designs.
As an architect, Rama Akel, the creative force behind Kawn Designs, drew inspiration from the monumental architecture influenced by the Golden Ratio. This led to the creation of a design that serves as a reminder of this human achievement in our interiors, encapsulating the essence of knowledge and beauty.
The meticulous design process presented several challenges, including ensuring the circular shape held without obvious support and seamlessly carrying the wooden shelves without compromising the overall ratio. These challenges were expertly overcome, resulting in a design that seamlessly embodies the spirit of Da Vinci's masterpiece.
Ring has been recognized with the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category, underscoring its outstanding expertise, innovation, and remarkable level of excellence. This accolade further solidifies Ring's status as a top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable design that introduces positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
