Lara Wilkin introduces the "Lazarus Effekt" campaign, a multimedia awareness initiative utilizing black and white vector illustrations to shed light on the Lazarus Effect, a largely neglected topic in natural sciences.

"Lazarus Effekt" Campaign Illustrations

Lara Wilkin's "Lazarus Effekt" campaign is a multimedia awareness initiative that aims to draw attention to the largely neglected Lazarus Effect, a phenomenon in natural sciences. The campaign consists of print media, social media marketing, and merchandise products, all featuring black and white vector illustrations of representatives from flora and fauna currently subject to the Lazarus Effect. The main illustration, measuring 32000 mm by 23428 mm, acts as the visual key of the campaign and unites all its components.

The development of "Lazarus Effekt" is based on the unintentional rediscovery of previously lost or considered extinct forms of life. The campaign's illustrations serve as a warning symbol, drawing attention to species that were once considered extinct by humans but have reappeared. The black and white vector style combines different media parts of the campaign and is designed to be an eye-catching addition to the urban landscape, with the illustrations looking admonishingly at the viewer.

Drawn using Adobe Illustrator, the campaign's illustrations are accompanied by the hashtag #LazarusEffekt, leading users to the social media and campaign homepage. The project, which began in May 2020, is the result of extensive research with anthropological, biological, and paleontological literature, as well as support from various natural history museums. The campaign aims to compress complex topics into a social education initiative and has been recognized with a Bronze A' Design Award in 2021.
