Adesse is a minimalist watch concept designed by Jansen Che, challenging traditional timepieces with its unique approach to minimalism and timekeeping.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Jansen Che's Adesse watch reimagines traditional analog timepieces with minimalist principles, questioning the necessity of numerical indicators, second, minute, and hour hands. The design aims to encourage living in the present moment by removing the unnecessary elements from the watch face.
The Adesse watch takes minimalism to the extreme by omitting superfluous features, leaving only what is essential to tell the time at any given moment. Its sculptural rotating piece deliberately reveals just enough to act as a memento for enjoying the present.
The 38mm diameter watch is designed through subtraction, with traditional features removed to create a perfect circular silhouette watch case. The unique design requires a special watch movement strong enough to rotate the sculptural piece and relocate the crown to the bottom of the watch.
Adesse reads like a one-hand watch, with hour markers scored deeper, wider, and taller than the quarter markers. As time progresses throughout the day, most quarter markers become hidden by the rotating sculptural face, revealing only those relevant to the present hour.
Designed in Sydney, Australia, Adesse was exhibited in Singapore in 2019 and has won the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in 2021 for its outstanding innovation and creativity.
Jansen Che, the founder of Studio Adesse, is an architect and designer with a passion for minimalist design. His interest in creating products with a similar design ethos has led to the development of the Adesse watch, which has garnered several design awards.
