Mural Project "Tale About Fear" by Marta Zawieja

Marta Zawieja's "Tale About Fear" mural project is a transformative endeavor that turned a 1950s building into a warm and inviting space for a children's hospice in Lodz, Poland. The project aimed to create a home-like atmosphere, dispelling the association of the hospice with fear and nightmares. Zawieja's design, featuring a flamingo carrying a girl on its beak, symbolizes a passage between two worlds, with the girl's hair representing the power of children's imagination.

Zawieja utilized traditional painting techniques and digital technology to create the mural, covering 550 square meters of the building's walls with a design that aimed to soothe and enchant both the children and the hospice's employees. The project, realized with wall paints, was a labor of love, dedicated to providing comfort and solace to those in their most difficult moments.

The "Tale About Fear" mural project not only transformed the physical space of the hospice but also became a symbol for the Gajusz Foundation, influencing the foundation's logo and identification. Despite initial challenges and doubts from city authorities, the project has become a beacon of hope and recognition, standing out as one of the most distinctive buildings in the city.
