Antonia Fedder's Fungi Narratives project, a sustainable design experiment with fungi and bioplastics, will be exhibited at the Dutch Design Week 2020 in Eindhoven.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Antonia Fedder's Fungi Narratives is a material and design project that explores the potential of fungi as an organic material, combining their properties with bioplastics to create sustainable products. The project includes amadou "leather" accessories, up-cycled fashion pieces, and paper-like materials based on fungi, all with the aim of positively impacting the future of design.
The project utilized Fomes Fomentarius and Fomitopsis Betulina fungi, along with bioplastic made from plant-based glycerin, agar agar, and water. The designs come in various shapes and sizes, with the amadou face mask made from the inner section of the Fomes Fomentarius fungus and the paper collection consisting of 25 different qualities.
Starting in November 2019 and ending in September 2020, the project was developed by students of the Design School Kolding MA Program "Design for Planet" and will be exhibited at the Dutch Design Week 2020 in Eindhoven as part of the exhibition "Materialized."
