UN Blue: A Breakthrough in Watch Design

UN Blue, designed by Xuan ying Jiang, is a revolutionary timepiece that pays homage to the United Nations peacekeeping force. The design team drew inspiration from the "Blue Helmet Warriors" who work tirelessly to preserve peace in conflict zones, resulting in a unique watch that breaks the traditional mold with its triangular case symbolizing stability and peace.

What sets UN Blue apart is its commitment to environmental sustainability. The watch features shockproof bezels and straps made from recycled high-quality plastic composite waste, a nod to the transformation of military equipment and the need for eco-friendly materials in modern design.

The realization of UN Blue involves cutting-edge technology, including a curved sapphire glass watch cover for enhanced transparency and protection, a Swiss Super-luminova luminous system for night-time readability, and water resistance up to 50 meters for everyday use.

With a focus on user experience, the UN Blue watch optimizes readability with a 5.5° tilt in the case and glass, making it easier for users to quickly focus and read the time. The detachable watch strap design offers versatility and comfort, catering to different preferences and lifestyles.

Designed in China, the UN Blue project began in December 2020 and is set to launch as a limited edition in December 2022. The design team overcame various challenges, including the production of the unique triangular case and the development of alternative silicone straps, to bring this innovative timepiece to life.

Xuan ying Jiang, the lead designer for Welly Merck, is known for pushing the boundaries of watch design and advocating for environmental consciousness. The UN Blue design has been recognized with the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in 2023, showcasing its outstanding creativity and technical excellence.
