Lingjun Sun Unveils Crosscut Cabouchon, a Futuristic Jewelry Collection
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Lingjun Sun, a designer and goldsmith based in Australia, has unveiled his latest jewelry collection, Crosscut Cabouchon. Inspired by futuristic architecture and crafted with a blend of traditional carving skills and innovative setting techniques, this collection features a unique combination of materials, including Corian, anodized aluminum, and ethically sourced gems.
Within the carefully designed and boldly colored settings, Lingjun matches the opal with new vocabularies of materials, creating a stark contrast with the characteristics of the stone. The unusual material palette and innovative setting techniques allow Sun opportunities to play with scale and proportion, resulting in a collection that invites its wearers to see classic gemstones in a different light.
The project, which started in October 2018 and finished in June 2019 in London, was exhibited at the International Jewellery London 2019, where it was awarded the Best Bright Young Gem in September 2019. The collection was also recognized with a Silver A' Design Award in 2021, showcasing outstanding expertise and innovation.
Lingjun Sun is endlessly fascinated by structure, both natural and manmade. His jewelry is most often inspired by architecture and details found in nature, reflecting countless intricacies and details encountered every day. Sun's work as a gemologist, opal cutter, and fine jewelry designer has contributed to his unique approach to jewelry design, which continues to garner recognition and accolades.
