ROU-YUN HO Unveils Sway, a Bar Chair Designed to Explore Unconscious Behaviors, Promoting Mental Flow and Contemplation
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ROU-YUN HO, a designer from Miaoli County, Taiwan, has unveiled "Sway," a bar chair that aims to explore unconscious behaviors and promote mental flow. Inspired by the occasional unconscious movements people exhibit, such as rocking when entering a state of mental flow, Sway transforms this phenomenon into a design object. The chair leverages the unique sensation of a bar stool to provide stability and controlled, small-scale rocking, allowing users to explore their own rhythm and patterns.
Utilizing traditional bending, handmade welding, and woodworking techniques, Sway incorporates a pendulum beneath the seat to offer a calming and contemplative state of mind. The design, awarded Silver in A' Furniture Design Award 2023, aims to evoke a relaxed atmosphere and aid in achieving a state of focused thinking.
ROU-YUN HO is known for conducting in-depth research and insights into people's needs and expectations, striving to creatively solve complex problems and provide appropriate solutions. The ultimate goal is to bring convenience and assistance to people through design, reflecting a passion for a simple and easy life.
