Leafy Relaxing Home Renovation Project

Chang Thai Yu's revamp project creates a bright, spacious home with multi-functional applications, reformed axes, and simple materials without changing the configuration. The nature-themed design reflects the temperaments and preferences of the family of three, evoking a harmonious family imagery with elmwood embodying the family's personalities. The use of dark colors and rock texture represents the father's prudence, while marble and delicate metallic lines imply the mother's astuteness. The textures of materials symbolize their personalities, bringing a natural ambience to this urban residence.

The revamp project integrates materials in neutral colors, with a palm-leaf themed wall forming the tropical-vibe focal point. The use of marble in small spaces adds a luxury flair, while a well-blended desaturated palette and high brightness render a succinct and exquisite design. The structural beam across the room, formerly hidden in the multi-level ceiling, is now the main axis through the living and dining room, forming the boundary and guiding the moving flow. Its straight line enlarges the space and integrates common areas while wood slates define the kitchen and dining area.

With a limited budget, the project utilizes focal-point themed walls to change the atmosphere, brightening the space with a tropical rainforest print and P-Tex for periodic changes and reuses. Wood veneer delivers a natural vibe, and the use of marble in the living room and kitchen offers a romantic mood. The project, completed in 2020 over a four-month period, is located in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. This innovative design was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2022, recognizing its well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements.
