Plycelain by Yuting Chang

Yuting Chang presents Plycelain, a modern tableware collection that reimagines the classic blue-and-white porcelain through the utilization of mass production techniques while preserving the craftsmanship spirit. The collection includes a cup set, an espresso cup set, and a bowl, each showcasing meticulous and innovative craftsmanship.

Chang's innovative approach involves slip casting, a mass-production technique of ceramics, to create multilayered drinkware. By adapting this process, subtle blue lines are exposed on the cut surfaces, emphasizing the beautiful relationship between assembled parts and adding a contemporary twist to the traditional blue-and-white ware.

Starting in December 2017 in Chicago, the project was completed in 2018, culminating in the creation of Plycelain, a unique fusion of tradition and modernity.
