Monica: Empowering Women with PCOS

Monica is an app designed to support women with PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome), a common hormonal disorder affecting millions of women worldwide. Developed by Muling Huang and her team at Zhejiang University, Monica leverages artificial intelligence to provide personalized guidance, education, and community support for women with PCOS.

Utilizing conversational AI technology, Monica simulates the role of a supportive friend, offering tailored advice on exercise, diet, medication, and lifestyle adjustments to help women manage their condition effectively. The app also features a community platform where users can share experiences and encourage each other.

Designed for both iOS and Android platforms, Monica's user-friendly interface and personalized approach aim to empower women with PCOS to take control of their health and well-being. The project, which commenced in July 2020 and concluded in September 2020, reflects Muling Huang's commitment to designing for disadvantaged groups and leveraging design to make a positive impact on society.

The innovative approach of Monica has been recognized with the Bronze A' Design Award in Mobile Technologies, Applications, and Software Design in 2021, acknowledging its outstanding contribution to improving the quality of life for women with PCOS.
