KiyokaYamazuki's award-winning Japanese Kumano Kodo calendar design, inspired by the UNESCO World Heritage Site, receives prestigious recognition
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
KiyokaYamazuki's latest creation, the Japanese Kumano Kodo calendar, has been awarded the Silver A' Design Award in the Graphics, Illustration, and Visual Communication Design category for 2023. The calendar, featuring hand-drawn illustrations with acrylic paint, is a vibrant representation of the ancient Japanese highway, Kumano Kodo, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2004.
The calendar, consisting of 6 sheets, measures 420mm x 595mm and showcases the designer's colorful and fun illustrations, incorporating the rich cultural heritage of Japan. The Kumano Kodo, used for centuries as a pilgrimage route, is brought to life in the calendar through depictions of the "Nachi Fire Festival" and "Nachi Falls," significant events of the Kumano Shrine.
KiyokaYamazuki, a freelance illustrator from Takayama City, Japan, has been creating illustrations for corporate information magazines and calendars since 1992. The award-winning design reflects the designer's commitment to excellence, innovation, and the celebration of Japan's cultural legacy.
