Haoling Yu's Qinglu design project, a residential house located in Chengdu, China, seamlessly integrates Chinese classical aesthetics with modern western design, creating a harmonious and elegant living space.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Spanning 700 square meters, the Qinglu project began in December 2016 and was completed in December 2018 in Chengdu. The design team, led by Haoling Yu, included Jie Yin, Qian Yin, Chao Yang, Meini Lu, and Hongcheng Wang. The project is a testament to the successful fusion of traditional American villa spatial structure with modern Chinese lifestyle.
The design's unique feature lies in the radical transformation of the original space, which involved the removal of traditional windows to introduce more natural light and expand the narrow space. The interior, predominantly in gray and white, is complemented by a blue-green system, symbolizing a return to nature and a pursuit of fashion art.
One of the notable aspects of the design is the teahouse, which exudes an air of serenity and Zen, influenced by natural and plain wood colors. The living room, adorned with comfortable and simple furniture, maintains a balanced and harmonious beauty with restrained gray, fresh white, and calm dark green tones.
The project faced challenges in integrating Chinese and western kitchen layouts to accommodate frequent family gatherings, ultimately achieving a warm and harmonious family environment. The design also addressed the spatial structure of the LUSEHILLS international community, successfully blending Chinese and foreign cultures.
Haoling Yu's Qinglu design received the Bronze A' Design Award in 2020 for its outstanding and creatively ingenious approach, seamlessly blending Chinese and western aesthetics to create a modern, elegant living space.
