Wen-Chau Chen's residential project, Frame of Color, awarded Bronze in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2022, brings the 70s space pop art to life in a modern setting, creating a vivid and bright living space in Taiwan.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Wen-Chau Chen's Frame of Color draws inspiration from the 70s space pop art, infusing vivid colors and curved shapes into a modern residential space. The design showcases a unique utilization of black, yellow, and blue valchromat to outline the furniture frames, creating a striking visual impact in the dining and living areas. The concept aims to bring the focus on the furniture by leaving blank spaces, reminiscent of the space pop art style.
The realization of this design involved the strategic use of valchromat to construct color blocks in curved shapes, seamlessly integrating them into the living space. The house features seamless flooring and a predominantly white interior, accentuating the main colors and classic furniture. The entryway is adorned with bright marble, creating a captivating contrast with the matte-textured flooring, establishing a cohesive theme throughout the space.
To maintain consistency and enhance the spacious feel, the construction prioritized the walls and ceiling, incorporating curved shapes and bilayer ceilings. The design also utilizes ornaments to delineate areas, contributing to the overall visual appeal and sense of expansiveness.
