FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Yilan Liu's Ataraxia jewelry collection draws inspiration from ancient Gothic architecture, aiming to revive the traditional style in a new and contemporary way. The collection encapsulates the sublime internal atmosphere of Gothic architecture, using synthetic gemstones to enhance the vibe and provoke unique individual experiences through playful interaction.
The production process, which lasted about one month, involved wax curving, casting, stone cutting, model modification, stone setting, metal finishing, and gold plating. The materials used include synthetic gemstones such as cubic zirconia, synthetic spinel, and synthetic ruby, as well as gold-plated silver for the metal parts.
The unique properties of the collection lie in its ability to combine the old with the new, creating a poetic experience for individuals who wear the jewelry. The pieces are not just jewelry; they represent a combination of culture, aesthetic, fashion, and emotion.
The Ataraxia collection includes rings, bangles, and earrings, each designed to provoke a unique emotional experience through their interaction with the wearer. The project started in October 2017 in London, was completed in May 2019, and was exhibited in the Central Saint Martins Degree Show in June 2019, where it was awarded the distinction.
Yilan Liu's research on Gothic culture and contemporary jewelry purchasing behavior, along with first-hand investigations, underscored the value of the project. The designer overcame creative, technical, and research challenges to achieve the best result, ensuring that all design details were realized to their fullest potential.
Yilan Liu, a Chinese jewelry designer, completed her MA degree in Jewellery Design at Central Saint Martins in 2019. Her contemporary designs always discuss the relationship between wearers and jewelry with playful interaction, encouraging self-exploration and reflecting a special perspective towards life.
