Renowned architect Manuel Lap Yan Lam completes the transformation of a public bathroom into an authentic public space, bringing humans closer to nature in Coloane Macau.

Ocean Vista Public Toilet Renovation
Renowned architect Manuel Lap Yan Lam has unveiled the transformation of the Ocean Vista public toilet, located along the coastal trail at Coloane Macau. Completed in May 2021, the project reorganizes the interior spatial layout and introduces new functional elements, optimizing the functions of a public bathroom and bringing humans closer to nature.
The exterior renovation is inspired by the rocks along the coastal trail, with brown and reddish functional elements echoing the natural surroundings. The new design provides a viewing platform to enjoy the ocean, balcony seating to observe the stars at night, and a long bench, creating an authentic public space for all.
The project was awarded Bronze in the A' Architecture, Building, and Structure Design Award in 2022, recognizing its outstanding and creatively ingenious design that authenticates experience and resourcefulness.
