Seoul, South Korea - March 2020 - Seulah Choi unveils Typotect, a modern museum brand experience design inspired by Piet Zwart, a pioneer of modernism.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Seulah Choi, a designer from Seoul, South Korea, introduces Typotect, a modern museum brand experience design inspired by the works of Piet Zwart, a pioneer of modernism. The project, initiated in 2016 in New Jersey and completed in March 2020, aims to reinterpret Zwart's unique style and create an identity for the 'TYPOTECT' museum. The latest version of the project was awarded the Silver Winner in Asia Design Prize 2019.
Typotect, a print-based brand identity design, incorporates Zwart's signature elements - the use of three primary colors, linear shapes, and spatial composition. The project's main characteristics include the use of thin strokes for the light lines, and a color-based plane shape primarily using blue and yellow. The logo features a reshaped square and a line with the three main colors.
Choi's design journey involved extensive research, including visits to modern museums in New York City and in-depth study of Zwart's works. The project faced the challenge of balancing Zwart's original style with a modern approach, ultimately resulting in a simple yet impactful museum brand experience design.
Seulah Choi, known for her logical approach to design, aims to infuse meaning and storytelling into her creations. Her work has been recognized with the Bronze A' Design Award in 2020, showcasing her technical and creative skills in contributing to quality of life improvements through design.
