W Chengdu: A Theatrical Hotel Experience

Glyph Design Studio introduces W Chengdu, a sophisticated and sensual hotel experience with ample playfulness, drawing inspiration from the local Bian Lian performances and the essence of Chengdu's Plenitude natural environments. The design uniquely captures the relaxed, light-hearted, and open-minded characters of Chengdu, providing an otherworldly experience rich with brand values in narrative and imagination.

The hotel spans over 26800 sq. meters, featuring public areas across 5 levels and approximately 297 guest rooms and suites. The design celebrates Chengdu's energy with bursts of vivid hues, dichroic glass, and programmed light scenes, creating an immersive experience for guests. The project was realized using a soft palette of tones accented with bright yellow, symbolizing fierceness, ambition, and cool-headedness.

The concept of fluidity is evident throughout the hotel, from the entry sequence with a large waterfall installation to the Whatever Whenever counters strategically placed for the best guest experience. The hotel's design engages guests through storytelling within the context of physical, social, and historical indigenous elements, based on extensive research and interviews with locals.
