Exotic Baseball: A Fusion of Morocco and Baseball in Restaurant Design

CHING-HSIAO CHIU, the renowned design team, has unveiled the mesmerizing Exotic Baseball, a restaurant design that defies stereotypes. The project, located in Taoyuan, Taiwan, was completed in January 2022, after starting in November 2021. The design draws inspiration from the mysterious allure of Morocco and the passion for baseball, creating a brand-new look that breaks free from conventional norms.

The design team's innovative approach incorporates elements such as concrete and rusted iron to evoke an exotic atmosphere reminiscent of Morocco. The use of rough-textured cement and rustic gray tones adds a natural charm, while irregular lines and a blend of light gray and dark red create a captivating visual appeal.

Exotic Baseball spans 654.5 square meters, featuring a first floor with a checkout counter, bartending counter, kitchen, pick-up area, and booths, and a second floor with private rooms and a washroom. The space also includes a flexible outdoor terrace for diners and their children to relax and play.

For diners, Exotic Baseball offers not only a culinary experience but also a visually stimulating environment. The interior provides numerous photo spots, including an electrocardiogram wall, customized table and chairs, and concrete walls, encouraging interaction with the design. The design team has successfully balanced boldness and refinement, creating a space that is both striking and exquisite.

Despite the creative challenges faced, such as transforming a dark-colored tin house into a captivating space, the design team overcame obstacles by incorporating H-shaped steel bars and undried cement to achieve the desired rugged Moroccan style. The result is a unique and immersive dining experience that captivates visitors.

CHING-HSIAO CHIU's Exotic Baseball has been recognized with the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2023, showcasing the team's exceptional creativity and technical prowess.
