The Tranquil Gathering project by Hung Teng Hsiao is a Japanese restaurant that skillfully integrates modern elements with traditional Japanese materials, creating a contemporary and inviting dining space. The design team's innovative approach reimagines the traditional Japanese style, utilizing light wood tones and intricate wooden grid patterns to craft a three-dimensional and harmonious ambiance. The use of PU simulation materials for stone and wood skin further enhances the modern yet authentic Japanese aesthetic.
One of the distinctive features of the design is the thoughtful consideration given to customer interaction and comfort. The use of hollow bricks and glass partitions, as well as the incorporation of functional equipment such as sockets between floors, reflects the design team's commitment to creating a welcoming and functional space for patrons. Additionally, the second-floor booth area is designed with the concept of reunion in mind, incorporating circular elements to evoke a sense of togetherness and conviviality.
The project's realization technology showcases the design team's mastery of materials, with the use of PU artificial leather and diverse textures adding depth and visual interest to the space. The careful selection of materials, including slate, annual rings, and grayscales with screws and rivets, contributes to the rich and modern Japanese style presented throughout the restaurant.
Tranquil Gathering's successful integration of modern and Japanese elements is a testament to the design team's ability to think outside the box and create a space that is both visually striking and functional. The project's recognition with the Bronze A' Design Award in 2021 further underscores its innovative and creatively ingenious approach, solidifying its status as an outstanding contribution to the world of interior space and retail design.
