Geoffrey Morrison's Citystars Heliopolis mall renovation introduces a biophilic design, celebrating the fluidity of the Nile, and integrating state-of-the-art materiality and technology.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Citystars Heliopolis mall, designed by Geoffrey Morrison, is undergoing a remarkable transformation, embracing a biophilic design that redefines retail architecture. The design language draws inspiration from the natural environment, incorporating sinuous, comfortable, and relaxing elements. Papyrus, lotus, and water plant architectural forms are reimagined into oversized experiential features and way-finding markers, creating a unique and immersive shopping experience.
The mall's interiors feature four spectacular atriums, namely Orion, Eclipse, Solaris, and Starport, each conveying a Galaxy of Life theme. With soft curved edges, light, creamy stone finishes, and charismatic lighting, the design aims to evoke a sense of wonder and tranquility for visitors.
Citystars Heliopolis stands out as the first integrated mixed-use development in Egypt, originally opened in 2004. The ongoing renovation encompasses a focused GFA area of 250,000 sq.m., with a comprehensive approach to architecture, interiors, lighting, wayfinding, landscape, and sustainability. Spanning 8 levels across a city block, the new Citystars celebrates the fluidity of the Nile through a dramatic form and cutting-edge materiality and technology.
Geoffrey Morrison, hailing from Bangkok, Thailand, has been recognized for this outstanding design with the prestigious Iron A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building, and Structure Design category in 2022. This accolade acknowledges the practicality, innovation, and professional excellence demonstrated in the Citystars Heliopolis renovation, setting new standards in the industry.
