FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Spark: A Sustainable Travel Guitar

Maxwell Brazo's Spark is a revolutionary 3D printed travel guitar, designed to make guitar-making more accessible and sustainable. Inspired by vintage Fender, Steinberger, La Baye 2x4, and lap steel guitars, Spark aims to replicate traditional luthier processes through new-age methods of small-scale manufacturing and material alternatives. The guitar body, neck, and fretboard are fully printed using sustainable materials, making it a transformative and playable piece that can be assembled at home.

Utilizing computer-aided design software and at-home manufacturing, Spark focuses on sustainability, accessibility, and adaptability. The guitar features recycled plastic and wood fiber composites, along with domestically sourced electrical and mechanical components. The design also incorporates a headless fixed bridge and a double-ball end combo headpiece, providing a compact full-scale travel silhouette.

Realized through Computer-Aided Design and Fused Filament Fabrication technologies, Spark's dimensions measure at Width 133.35mm (5.25in) x Depth 57.15mm (2.25in) x Height 768.35mm (30.25in), with a scale length of 25.5in and a fretboard radius of 9.5. The guitar also features a modern C neck profile, single coil, and humbucker passive pickups, along with stainless-steel hardware and a solderless wiring system.

Maxwell Brazo's Spark is a testament to innovative and sustainable design, offering a unique solution for cost-effective guitar production and assembly. This project, which began as thesis work at Rochester Institute of Technology, has seen prototyping in 2021, with the final working model and process book set to be completed in 2022. Based out of Litchfield, Connecticut, Maxwell Brazo's design is a fusion of tradition, accessibility, and sustainability, setting a new standard for at-home manufacturing in the music industry.
