Wonhee Kim's "The Ray" Brooch

Renowned designer Wonhee Kim unveils "The Ray" brooch, drawing inspiration from the ethereal beauty of sunlight breaking through clouds. Crafted with black rhodium-plated metal, black diamonds, and lustrous pearls, this brooch captivates with its unique play of light and dark.

The base color of the brooch is dark, featuring black rhodium-plated metal and a black diamond, but the addition of bright gemstones illuminates the entire piece, creating a striking contrast.

Created using 3D modeling technology, "The Ray" brooch measures 50 x 30 x 17mm and was meticulously designed and completed in June 2022 in Milan, Italy. Kim's research process involved observing the interplay of light and clouds, culminating in a design that captures the delicate balance between darkness and radiance.

Wonhee Kim, a Seoul-born designer, graduated from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco and further honed her skills at the Gemological Institute of America. Her unique style, influenced by Art Nouveau and Art Deco, has garnered acclaim, including the Iron A' Design Award in Jewelry, Eyewear, and Watch Design in 2023.
