Selfie Konditori: Creating a Bright and Insta-Photogenic Space

Selfie Konditori, a dessert bar designed by Alex Kovachev and his team, is a vibrant and unique addition to Tromso, Norway. The primary inspiration for the space came from the name "Selfie," which led to the creation of a fun and bubbly interior, curated by reflections, color, and brass finishings. The eatery aims to provide a small oasis of brightness in the sometimes long and dreary northern days and nights. The client's request to make the space Insta-photogenic was successfully realized through the use of materials such as brass, mirrored fixtures, and glossy bespoke furniture, reflecting the theme of self-reflection and joy.

The 130-square meter space features floral ornaments, brass details, and bespoke furniture, creating an energizing experience for visitors. The colorful features in the space are molded to fit the user's needs, offering a unique and memorable environment for enjoying desserts and capturing special moments.

The project, which commenced in January 2019, presented creative and technical challenges, especially with the pre-selected name "Selfie." However, the design team successfully overcame these challenges, delivering a space that not only provides a beautiful backdrop for photographs but also facilitates the taking of selfies as much as possible.
